Arab Center for Agriculture Development (ACAD) in Partnership with ACTED announced the commencement of the implementation phase of the Rehabilitation of Production Assets in the southern region of the Gaza strip during a meeting with its grassroots partners in Deir al-Balah, Rafah and Khan Yunis. Of note, the United Nations Office funds this project for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
The project will rehabilitate the agricultural production assets in the southern region of the Gaza Strip in line with conditions and mechanisms that will be established during the implementation phase, which will run from July all the way up to the end of January 2018. The project will be implemented in three governorates, namely, Deir al-Balah, Khan Yunis, and Rafah.
In a similar vein, the project will be implemented over three phases to restore 170-dunum agricultural land, benefit 85 farmers, distribute agricultural inputs to 85 farmers, and construct 8-linear-km water pipeline across the targeted areas.
What’s more, the project will provide technical training for farmers with a view to developing their capacity and skills in relation to the most important environment-friendly agricultural practices, irrigation water management, and integrated pest control.
