Within the framework of activities of the “Agricultural Assets Rehabilitation for Affected People by 2014 War” project implemented in partnership with the French ACTED, ACAD, in the presence of OCHA representatives and a number of the project local committees members, made a series of evaluation visits for a number of farmers who benefitted from the project activities. These activities included agricultural harvesting pools and agricultural land reclamation in areas targeted by the project, including Abasan Alkabirah, Khuzaa, AlFukhari and A-Shoukah in the south governorates of Gaza Strip.
To get acquainted with the social and economic impact of the project on the targeted farmers, ACAD evaluated the activities and their mechanisms of implementation since the beginning of the project up to date, criteria and mechanisms used to select the beneficiaries and to what extent they were fair and just. Moreover, these visits evaluated to what extent the project contributed to achieving a level of self-sufficiency for farmers to enhance their steadfastness and adherence to their lands as one of the most important livelihood sources, which they try to maintain and invest all their available resources in it.
At the end of these field visits, the beneficiaries highly appreciated and valued the role played by ACAD and ACTED, the partner organization, in facilitating all the administrative and technical procedures that contributed to the implementation of all activities efficiently and effectively.
It is worth mentioning that the project implementation started in July 2016 and will continue until the mid of January 2017. The most important activities of this project included building of agricultural harvesting pools, land reclamation, setting up carrier lines and training of the agricultural local committees.
